Prices

I hit a few of the places yesterday that I thought would be good for the paper products and cups. It looks like Big Lots had the best prices and the nicer items. I will take care of this part of the reception and the coffee maker rental. I also stopped at Blimpie and their party sub is either 3 footer for 44.99 which is 36 pieces or 6 footer for 79.99 with 72 pieces and it is a 24 hour notice. I am also calling the Pie Kitchen to see if they could donate a few things. I will keep you posted.

  1. I'm going to add some other foods that we've got worked out here so we see the entire list.

I think we'll be able to afford the $79.99, but we'll see when we'll make the judgement call on Tuesday when we all talk Jerrye. And I'll need to know what EVERYONE is contributing before then.

Jerrye - her Mom and sister are making things, she's contributing the coffee pot and some coffee and our paper goods. I did tell her that's in lieu of her financial commitment. That's saving us a bundle!
Thea - volunteered for a dessert tray and a finger sandwich tray.
Katie - we'll buy some of the fixings from the fund, but she feels she will have ample time to make pigs in a blanket.
Jonathan - has a commitment for 2 pizzas.
Connie - making shrimp dip and chips and providing the punch fixings and one can of coffee.
Zhalda - said she would make the queso dip. Zhalda, what can you provide with this and what do you need us to get? We'll need chips I would imagine and those I can get at Sam's pretty reasonably. A family size bag is usually about $5 for 2 bags. I'm thinking with this we can put out salsa and chips.
Fran - has a tray of desserts from someone coming

The sandwich will be bought from the fund as well as creamers/sugars/ice/cider/sternos.

The pizza and the pigs in a blanket will be the 2 warm dishes so we'll have to get some sternos for those. Jonathan, you are certain there are 2 hot trays if I'm correct?

I also made the beverage call. Jerrye felt with the wine coffee would be good. And we have ample so we'll serve that. I'll get cider from the fund from Sam's and that can be chilled and I'll be contributing the punch.
I still need financial contribution amounts from Dan, Zhalda, Randilyn, Jonathan and Fran.

At the end of the show if we don't use the entire fund I will distribute a refund equally between participants. And I anticipate taking the contributions on Thursday so we can make deposits or place orders.

I'll add a bit more later... Gotta get the kids to the doctors.

  2. Oh, the spinach dip we'll buy if Katie can get bread donated.

And I forgot to add for myself I'll make the cucumber sandwiches for those that are vegetarian.

Also, we'll see if we have enough in the fund at the end. We can provide soda to drink if we.

  3. I think that was Zhalda who was going to contact Great Harvest Bread for the spinach dip... I am happy to look into it though if needed.

  4. OK, that could have been. I didn't have my IPad with me when I typed this. :)

  5. I did write something to Katie that I'll share here as well. I know Jerrye went to Blimpie's about the sub sandwich and I know Katie is going to check with Subway.

Frankly, I have a moral issue with Subway over an animal right issue and them supporting the BET Award knowing that Michael Vick was to be named "Sportsman of the Year".

I will personally pay the difference if Subway is less than Blimpie's. But, personally, I can not ethically walk in or support a purchase from there.

  6. Connie, I don't think we need coffee, the beverage warmer that Jerrye is getting I thought was for hot spiced cider. Are we having coffee too?

  7. Jerrye had mentioned with wine we may want coffee. Initially it was for the cider and we both have ample coffee available. So, we figured we could still offer cider as a fall beverage.

  8. Here's what I found out from the Subway inside Grant Line Rd's Walmart...
They would need a 24 hour notice for a party sub. It is $12.99 per foot. That includes any fixings we want on the sandwich. They can also serve the dressings on the side. Every foot and a half can be something different, but the minimum order they can do this on is a 3 foot order. A 3 foot sub is estimated to feed 25 people when cut into pieces. The lady I spoke to suggested white and wheat bread graded because it looks richer. They also said I would get $5 off whatever is ordered because I worked at the bank inside Wal-mart. I know that is not much, but atleast it's something! :)

Connie, whatever you decide to do is fine with me. I just wanted to get the info so we have options. If we did decide to go with Subway, I would be willing to deal with the order. Just let me know.

  9. Also, they have smaller assortment platters (not quite sure what they consist of exactly), but they run $32. If that sounds appealing I will get more details.

  10. I talked with Gary when I picked up the key. He is donating the wine and will provide someone to pour. That will be one less expense to worry about. He is also providing free wine tasting in our space the following weekend during the jingle walk. Nice guy!

  11. I mentioned to Brian that if we have funds left over with him doing a wine tasting it might be nice to put out some cookies or something simple... Is everyone agreeable to that?

  12. cookies and wine? i think the wine has to be from a box for that to work.
